How to tune in ROCK Entertainment Sports Network (RESN) for high school football

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) -There’s a new 24-hour, 7-days a week sports network in Cleveland and it’s called the Rock.

The Rock Entertainment Sports Network is a free channel that can be picked up with an over-the-air antenna.

In the future, Rock hopes to join several cable and streaming platforms.

This week Rock starts with a number of high school football games including a huge one with Warren Harding at Canton McKinley on Thursday night at 7pm.

That’s followed by a Friday night showdown of St. Edward at Pickerington North at 7pm.

To get these games for free you will need to rescan your television for over-the-air channels and it will help to have a good antenna plugged into your tv.

Cleveland 19′s Dan Slentz, Director of Engineering and Technology warns that a lot of the antennas out there for sale make numerous bogus claims.

“Antennas that say ‘4K’ are just throwing out catch words,” Slentz said. “Whether standard def, HD, 4K, or even 8K, no antenna cares what that ‘RF’ (radio frequency) is carrying!”

Stay away from any antenna that claims it can pick up cable or streaming platforms. Those options are never broadcasted over-the-air.

Some antenna’s can be installed right by your television but may not get the best results.

“The thing about TV (like FM) is that height and being outdoor is about the best possible scenario for reception. The higher you can get the antenna, the better off you’ll be,” Slentz said.

“Towers next to houses and chimneys are often the highest possibility. Roof mounts work, but many people definitely don’t want to mount things like that to their roofs. A fair alternative is to put the antenna in the attic of a two-story or higher, building.”
