H&M’s beauty line hits SA – plus 5 other fashion brands with makeup

  • H&M will be launching its beauty range in SA on 29 August 2024.
  • The range will comprise nail polish, eye masks and other beauty products.
  • The brand says the launch of this range will supplement its clothing range. 

Many fashion brands are hitting the beauty industry by storm, introducing trendy and luxurious makeup, skincare and hair products.

In May 2024, Luella introduced its new vegan-friendly makeup range that strictly has plant-based ingredients for its makeup products such as lipstick, mascara, liquid eyelines and eyeshadows.

Now we see global retail store, H&M, expand its product range in South Africa with the launch of its beauty range, H&M beauty.

From 29 August 2024, H&M beauty products will be available for purchase at selected retailers and online via Superbalist.

With this beauty range, H&M intends to expand its lifestyle division, which already comprises a home décor range. By doing so, the Swedish brand would like to ensure that it creates a one-stop shop for its customer and cater to their day-to-day needs.

H&M also believes that its beauty range will supplement their clothing range and supporters will be able to purchase beauty products that align with their fashion products.

H&M South Africa’s country manager Caroline Nelson says, “We are delighted to introduce H&M Beauty in South Africa. This launch allows us to offer a well-curated beauty assortment that complements the fashion we are known for. Fashion has always been in H&M’s DNA and with H&M Beauty we can offer our customers a complete look.”

H&M Beauty will comprise of nail polish and accessories such as nail scissors, glosses and beauty accessories like body brushes and makeup bags, hair styling aids and more. The prices will range from R129 to R329.

Similar to Luella, some of H&M’s beauty products will also comprise vegan-friendly products such as its nail polish. 

Apart from Luella and H&M, here are four other fashion brands that have launched beauty products in South Africa:

1. Zara 

Renowned fashion outlet Zara offers a range of beauty products such as perfumes, mascaras and lipsticks. 

2. Fenty Beauty 

Rihanna has established herself in the fashion industry with her clothing brand, Fenty. In addition to their fashion products, Fenty has beauty products such as moisturiser, cleansers, toners, serums and many more products. 

3. Dior 

Designer clothing brand Christian Dior is well known for its men’s perfume range Dior Sauvage. However, the luxury clothing brand comprises a range of beauty products as well such as lipstick, foundation and mascara.

4. YSL Beauty

Another designer fashion brand that has ventured into beauty products is Yves Saint Laurent with products such as foundation, eyeliner and lipstick.
