Ahead of Saturday Night Live‘s 50th season premiere, Weekend Update anchors and reluctant besties Colin Jost and Michael Che are teaming up to host Peacock’s first live comedy special.
New York After Dark will stream live on Sept. 12 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT with an in-person audience at the Bell House in Brooklyn.

The comedy event will feature only drop-in comics, including Jost and Che’s favorite NYC club comedians, some fresh faces, and, according to the logline, “maybe even some names you already know and love.”
Special guest appearances will feature both up-and-coming and established comics in New York.
Jost is fresh off his viral hosting gig at the 2024 Olympics, where his laissez-faire approach to footwear while covering surfing in Tahiti resulted in some injured little piggies.
“NBC looked at my foot, declared me legally a leper, and exiled me here: To the island of Malta!” a more-or-less recovered Jost later joked on Instagram.
Though Che avoided any damage to his WikiFeet score, he and Jost will return for the big 50th season premiere of SNL this fall.
Meanwhile, just in time for all the celebrations, Saturday Night — a new film from director Jason Reitman — chronicles, in real time, the manic 90 minutes leading up to the show’s debut in October 1975. The cast includes Cory Michael Smith as Chevy Chase, Dylan O’Brien as Dan Aykroyd, Matt Wood as John Belushi, Lamorne Morris as Garrett Morris, Ella Hunt as Gilda Radner, Kim Matula as Jane Curtin, Emily Fairn as Laraine Newman, and Gabriel LaBelle as Lorne Michaels.
The movie is set to premiere on Oct. 11 — exactly 49 years after the late-night comedy show’s inaugural episode.
