Britney Spears and Sam Asghari are getting a divorce. The star who is going through the process has filed the necessary paperwork.

In papers that TMZ got a hold of, the 29-year-old actor said that “irreconcilable differences” were the reason for the divorce. He also asked the Grammy-winning singer to pay spousal support and his lawyers’ fees.

In the filing, Asghari also said that he “has yet to determine the full nature and extent of the separate property assets and obligations of each party.”

“There are various items of community and quasi-community assets and debts, the full nature and extent of which are unknown to [Sam] at this time.”

His lawyer, Neal Hersh, says that Asghari could also challenge and renegotiate their prenuptial agreement to keep Spears’ secret.

Also, the document says that the couple split up on July 28, but the petition was made on August 16.

Before they broke up, Britney, who is 41, and Sam, who is 29, were together for seven years. The first time they met was in 2016 on the set of her music video for “Slumber Party.” They started dating right away.

In June 2022, they got married in a small wedding at their home in California.

Us Weekly said that a source close to the couple said that Spears, who is 41, and Asghari, who is 29, signed a prenuptial agreement that protects the singer’s estimated $60 million wealth.

Asghari will get “$1 million every two years” for as long as they are married, up to a maximum of $10 million after 15 years.

He also gave up any claims to Spears’s music catalog, and his name isn’t on the deed of the home they shared. Instead, he and Spears decided to put the house into an LLC.
