In 2022, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s defamation hearing made waves around the world as fans waited to see who would win.

During the famous trial, when the court processes were shown live on TV, personal details about their lives were brought to light.

CNN reports that in the end, a jury found Heard guilty of defamation and found that one comment made by Depp’s former lawyer hurt Heard’s reputation. The jury ordered Heard to pay Depp both compensatory and punitive damages.

Now, Netflix has released a new documentary called Depp v. Heard. It will go back to the livestreamed court fight over an op-ed that Heard wrote in The Washington Post in 2018 in which she said that the Pirates of the Caribbean actor “domestically abused” her.

Depp had sued for slander for $50 million, and his ex-wife, Heard, sued back for $100 million.

The three-part documentary will look at the backlash against Heard and go into detail about the statements so that viewers can understand how the trial really went. Also, it will look into the information that wasn’t allowed in the trial, which could have helped Depp win.

In the Depp vs. Heard hearing, some evidence was left out.

In 2014, Johnny Depp’s former helper, Stephen Deuters, texted Amber Heard after he was said to have kicked her to the floor of the plane on a flight from Boston to Los Angeles.

The text exchange was allowed in the U.K. trial, but not in the U.S. trial because it was found to be hearsay.

In 2016, Deuters told TMZ that someone had changed his texts.

Heard’s lawyer said that Deuters “challenged the validity of the text messages in the U.K. proceedings, but when presented with the forensic evidence proving the validity, Depp withdrew his objection on the basis of validity.”

She also told USA Today that a “SIGNIFICANT amount of damaging evidence to the plaintiff” was kept out of the trial.

But Heard’s sister, Whitney Henriquez, claimed that she saw Depp hit her sister physically. She was the only person who did that.
