What’s going on with Excelsior’s future Arts and Culture Center?

Currently the Excelsior City Council is operating out of 106 Center Street to host its council meetings, but in the future, the Arts and Culture Center will make the space home.

Council approved this direction in April 2023 after hearing two adaptive reuse options from ALTUS Architecture + Design, the firm the city chose to redevelop the space. The result of the decision meant the original building, a former Christian Science Church, would be converted into an Arts and Culture Center with minimal changes to the exterior of the building as well as the creation of a single-family lot. The parcel was originally purchased by the city as a potential new location for city hall.
