Jenna Ortega’s Met Gala Début Outfit in 2023 References the Popular Netflix Series ‘Wednesday’

On the red carpet of the Met Gala 2023 on Monday, May 1st, 2023, Jenna Ortega, best known for playing the titular Wednesday Addams in the blockbuster Netflix series, channeled her gothic image.

The teenage actress showed up on the Metropolitan Museum of Art steps to pay tribute to Karl Lagerfeld, the late iconic long-time des. Her outfit was in her usual gothcore style.

The prestigious charity event’s theme this year was “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” so many of the guests wore black and white, which are the designer’s favorite colors.

Ortega’s high-fashion Victoriana look was designed by Thom Browne. It included a lace-up corset that fits the actor like a glove, knee-high sheer black socks, black-and-white patent-heeled brogues, and a dramatic skirt with ruffles that swept behind her down the cream-colored carpet, according to Vogue.

This isn’t the first time the 20-year-old actor has been seen in a goth outfit. Last month, the star of “Scream” talked to the outlet about how much she respects “goth” culture.

She said, “I’ve always respected goth culture. I’ve always had a darker sense of humor, but I never felt like I was able to express that. Now I feel like I can embrace those qualities in myself.”

The actress said that her Wednesday role seems to have changed how she dresses. In an interview with InStyle magazine, she said, “Wednesday changed my taste a lot. I have a hard time getting her off of me, at least clothing-wise.”

“It’s also something that I’ve always wanted to do,” she said. I just never felt like I could. I feel like there were always a lot of voices and opinions that I used to place too much value in.”
