Each third Thursday, the Goshen Theater will host Music & Martinis, a free monthly music and happy hour event.

September’s event features music from KHB featuring Simon Hurst and Nate Butler and guest bartender Deserae Cripe from Hacienda.

The event is produced in collaboration with WVPE. Drinks and snacks are available for purchase.

Evening in the Gardens: Fresh Perspectives

Wellfield Botanic Gardens

1011 N. Main St., Elkhart

Celebrating supporters of the gardens, this year’s Evening in the Gardens features a special celebration of the visitors center expansion project.

Cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m. and dinner begins at 7 p.m. with live music by David Hilliker Quartet.

In addition to sharing our appreciation for annual partners, sponsors, and supporters, Wellfield will pay special tribute to those who have made the project a reality, including the presentation of the 2024 Spirit of Wellfield Award honoring the exemplification of the Garden’s mission: celebrating the inseparable relationship between water and life, inspiring creativity and lifelong learning, fostering stewardship of our natural world, and growing community.

Kimball Organ Silent Film Series featuring Clark Wilson: The Cat & The Canary

Lerner Theatre

Experience an evening of timeless entertainment at the third installment of The Lerner Theatre’s 2024 Silent Film Series.

Organist Clark Wilson will perform over the classic silent film, “The Cat & The Canary.” As the family members of the late Cyrus West gather at his old mansion to read over his will, a cat will seek to capture its own prize, complete with mysterious twists and comedic turns.

Presented by the Friends of the Lerner and sponsored by the Community Foundation of Elkhart County, tickets are $12.50 for adults, $10 for children and seniors, plus applicable fees.

EPL’s Curbside Concerts: nine2K

Elkhart Public Library rooftop

300 S. Second St., Elkhart

The Elkhart Public Library’s Curbside Concert series returns for the fall season with four shows.

Each week bands will play on the roof of the downtown library.

Concerts are free and open to the public.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own camp chairs or blankets. Beer, wine and soda are available for purchase, and a food truck will be parked nearby.

In the event of rain, concerts move indoors to the library’s first-floor atrium, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.

Las Guaracheras

Las Guaracheras is an all-women salsa sextet born in the city of Cali, Colombia in 2017. The ensemble’s cultural and artistic objective is to uplift a female voice within Afro-Latin music and build a more inclusive, diverse, and respectful cultural space for all. Their music communicates joy, memory, and transformation. With vibraphone, percussion, bass, piano, and vocals, Las Guaracheras present an explosive show that provokes dancing, singing as well as reflection.

Season ticket packages save 10% off of the full-price tickets. Four core performances are set for each season ticket: Girl Named Tom, The King’s Singers, Canadian Brass, and Time for Three. Season ticket holders may then choose two or more additional performances from the remaining choices.

Big Fish the Musical

Join Phoenix Performing Arts in the Miller Auditorium at Goshen Theater as they present “Big Fish.”

Based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film directed by Tim Burton, “Big Fish” tells the story of Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest and then some. Edward’s incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him — most of all, his devoted wife Sandra. But their son Will, about to have a child of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales.

Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 20 and 21 and 3 p.m. Sept. 22.

Memphis Underground is an energetic and entertaining seven-piece band featuring a mix of blues, Motown, rock, and funk mixed with current music.

Admission is free for Lerner on the Lawn concerts at the Central Park stage.

Free Movie: Dead Poet’s Society

Goshen Theater

A new English teacher, John Keating (Robin Williams), is introduced to an all-boys preparatory school that is known for its ancient traditions and high standards. He uses unorthodox methods to reach out to his students, who face enormous pressures from their parents and the school. With Keating’s help, students Neil Perry (Robert Sean Leonard), Todd Anderson (Ethan Hawke) and others learn to break out of their shells, pursue their dreams and seize the day.

The movie is rated PG and has a runtime of 2 hours and 8 minutes. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged at the door. Doors open at 6:15 p.m., and the bar and concession stand will be open.

Join Phoenix Performing Arts in the Miller Auditorium as they present an all-youth production of “Disney’s Winnie the Pooh.”

Welcome to the Hundred Acre Wood — where Winnie the Pooh is, once again, in search of honey! Along the way he meets his pals, that we all know and love: Tigger, Piglet, Rabbit, and Owl. This musical includes every ounce of Disney magic a kid could ask for! Be sure to join your favorite “silly old bear.”
