Herd Tennis Finishes Day One at Gamecock Shootout

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Marshall University Tennis team began action at the Gamecock Shootout in Columbia, South Carolina, on Friday.
 
“We had excellent play today and I liked our level a lot,” Herd tennis head coach John Mercer said.
 
The Herd took four matches in singles action. Aisling McGrane took her contest in straight sets over Anna Kantor of South Carolina as Emma Vanderheyden and Emily Schut won in straight sets over Sara Suchankova and Emma Wilkins of Charlotte, respectively.
 
Johanna Strom took a three-set battle over South Carolina’s Misa Malkin.
 
Sophia Hurrion and Andjela Lopicic picked up Marshall’s lone doubles win, 6-3, over the SMU pairing of Caroline McGinley and Maj Mokoric.
