Week 37’s Car Show Report is in! And Scot brings us to two different shows. The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Car Show. And the Westchester Elks Car Show. His color commentary and pics are below. And the sweet ride above apparently has some backstory he and his buddies are familiar with.
Tom,
Saturday we went to two small shows, the LASD Motorsports Car Show and the Westchester Elks Car Show And Chili Cook-Off.
The LASD Car Show
– Tri-Fives in a … flock? Herd? Pack? What would be the group noun?
– A nice clean Merc
– A Chevy. But wait, do the spots and siren make it a UC from back in the day?
– A Sheriffs S3? They have too many toys.
– My wife’s favorite was the Willys wagon
– At this show, I liked the Suburban best. (Pictured above.) I did text a pic to a couple of buddies, one of whom immediately exclaimed, “That’s Drew’s old Suburban!” and both of whom went on to disparage clear coating a patina. I liked the effect here, though I think it should most often be avoided.
The Elks Car Show
– A Dodge Wayfairer (outside the show). Cool car, that I’ve not seen before.
– A Good Humor Chevy selling ice cream
– An exotic ’57 Jaguar XK140, which Hagerty values at well over $100k.
– A 67 Sunbeam Tiger
