WEST POINT — It was a happy party atmosphere and impossible to estimate the thousands of people coming and going all day long at the West Point Car Show as they enjoyed the comfortable weather viewing the nearly 400 highly polished shining entrants of all makes and years. Motorcycles, bicycles and even pedal cars were on display.
“It was a great turnout. There were many new first-time entrants. It was fun talking to people and appreciating the distance they came,” said Dan Nesladek, president of the car show board.
Fifty-seven monster trophies and 20 specialty trophies with $100 cash were given out at Sunday’s event. One lucky entrant received the $500 jackpot drawing.
The car show, now in its fourth year, evolved from the 30-year Last Fling to Spring car show up and down Main Street. After the pause for COVID, the event was relocated to the Nielsen Center parking lots and the show was revamped and renamed.
Inside the Nielsen Center, the congeniality of 60 vendors and hundreds of customers shopping for the varieties of pickles, jellies, crocheted, knitted and quilted item, baked goods, crafts and more.
Food trucks supplied ample nourishment for outdoor dining with live music from the On the Fritz band.
Preparations are now beginning for the 2025 West Point Car Show, which will be the third Sunday in September.
