There was a wild shootout on a Louisville street Thursday night.Louisville Metro Police say the gunfire involved a convicted felon, an altered gun and at least 18 bullets fired.According to police, 25-year-old Gordon Jackson was parked in front of his grandmother’s house in the Shawnee neighborhood. “Some guys just jumped out of a car and started shooting at a guy (Jackson). He retaliated back. They sped off. It was crazy, but this is a crazy neighborhood, though,” said neighbor Michael Collier.Multiple bullet holes could be seen in the Ford Fusion Jackson had been sitting in.”They let off about 20 rounds,” Collier said.Despite the barrage of bullets, Jackson somehow avoided injury.LMPD said after the shooting, Jackson tried to hide his gun on a window ledge outside his grandmother’s home, but cops found it.Police say the Glock 17 had been altered to fire as an automatic weapon.Jackson was arrested at his grandmother’s house and is now charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.He is also charged with tampering with physical evidence and possessing drug paraphernalia.Back on River Park Drive, Collier told WLKY that gun violence in the area is nothing new. “A lot of shooting. A lot of shooting, carjacking, a lot of stuff,” Collier said.
