SAN ANTONIO – Heavy police presence was seen in a Southside neighborhood.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, the incident happened around the area of Loop 410 and Commercial Avenue around 12:50 p.m.

Officers share that a man was pacing back and forth with a long rifle and a handgun outside. After the police received a call regarding this, the response escalated.

The police department’s helicopter made the scene, and the 30-year-old began pointing his guns at the helicopter which prompted their SWAT team. The mental health unit and additional backup made the scene.

Officials say the suspect seemed to have been undergoing a mental health crisis.

“This individual has had incidents with his neighbors and pointing the gun allegedly to his neighbors – some went to the south substation to file a report against him for threats,” Moscoso said.

The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
