Turkey burgers topped with balsamic caramelized onions, arugula and wheat buns for the win.

I’m preparing for my next marathon, so this recipe made with lean turkey and healthy carbs makes the perfect meal for training.

And it’s one your family will love.

WHAT YOU NEED

3 large onions, cut in half and then sliced

½ cup balsamic vinegar

2 pounds ground turkey

½ cup chopped onion

2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

½ tsp salt

½ tsp fresh cracked pepper 

3 cloves minced garlic

1 tbsp. thyme

Provolone cheese

Dijon mustard

HOW TO MAKE IT

Cook onions and balsamic in a covered skillet on medium heat for about 20 minutes; uncover and continue to cook until there is no liquid left and onions are caramelized.

For burgers: Mix all ingredients and cook on grill pan, grill or Blackstone. 

Add cheese and serve on a whole wheat bun.  Top with caramelized onions and arugula.
