Octoberfest will take over downtown Appleton this weekend, along with the License to Cruise car show, while Menasha hosts the Grunski Runski and Grunski Bikeski.

License to Cruise to feature classic cars, music and food
Appleton’s Octoberfest weekend kicks off with License to Cruise, 3 to 9 p.m. Sept. 27. The classic car show will feature around 400 classic cars, live music and food along College Avenue and at the Fox Cities Exhibition Center.
Anyone interested in displaying a vehicle that’s 2003 or older can register beginning at 3 p.m. Registration is $5 to park your car on the avenue. Specialty vehicles will be shown off at the Exhibition Center. This year’s specialty vehicle is “Trucks, Station Wagons and Vans.”

Octoberfest to take over College Avenue Sept. 28
Appleton’s Octoberfest will take over College Avenue in downtown Appleton on Sept. 28. Music starts as early as 9 a.m.
In addition to music, there will be arts and crafts, a family fun area, as well as food booths run by local non-profit organizations to raise funds.
The first Octoberfest event was held in Appleton in 1981, with the car show being added in 1990. For more information, including the history of the event, visit octoberfestonline.org.
Menasha hosts Grunski Runski, Bikeski events
The Grunski Runski and Grunski Bikeski are scheduled for Sept. 28 and 29.
The 44th annual Grunski Runski includes a costume contest and an after party. The run begins and ends at Curtis Reed Square, 160 Main St., Menasha.
Proceeds from the run will go to the Menasha Parks and Recreation Family Assistance Fund, so all City of Menasha youth have access to Menasha Parks and Recreation programming.

As part of the City of Menasha’s 150th anniversary, the Grunski Bikeski will be 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Smith Park, 338 Cleveland St., Menasha.
Bikers will race the perimeter of the park. Participants also can learn about Otto Grunski’s history and join in on all the biking fun. All abilities are welcome. This is not a sanctioned bike race.

Celebrate autumn at Givens Farm Fall Fest
Givens Farm will host Fall Fest on Sept. 28 in celebration of autumn. The event will run 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the farm, N2828 Givens Road, Hortonville.
The day will include crafts, antiques, home decor, homegrown pumpkins and gourds, apothecaries, and scenic hay rides. There also is a chance to get up close and personal with birds of prey.

Walk to benefit American Heart Association research, education
The Fox Cities Heart Walk will take place Sept. 28 at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. and the walk begins at 8:30 a.m.
The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s largest community initiative to raise funds for lifesaving research and increase CPR education and training.
The Heart Walk campaign engages companies to improve health and well-being of employees while supporting efforts to fight against cardiovascular diseases. Its Nation of Lifesavers initiative supports CPR education, extends AED use and engages employers, policymakers, philanthropists with the goal of turning bystanders into lifesavers.
