Eva Longoria has come a long way from her childhood in Texas, where high glamour and big, bold beauty was the norm. “I grew up with hair and make-up in my life,” the actress, producer and L’Oréal Paris ambassador tells Bazaar UK. She recalls the vibe shift she experienced in her early days in ’90s Hollywood, where she found that sky-high blowdries were replaced with sleek, poker-straight hair.
These days, Longoria embraces a simpler approach. “I want my beauty routine to be effortless – I don’t want to spend hours on it,” shares the 49-year-old. “It has to be easy.”
She credits her streamlined routine to advancements in beauty formulas allowing her to cut out unnecessary extra products. “The technology lately has been so great that I get to do my skincare within my make-up. Anytime I can cut steps, that makes me excited.”
It’s no surprise then, that when it comes to make-up, Longoria prefers to eschew complicated palettes for something quick but impactful. “I love a good lash because it really makes the eye pop,” she explains.
Another staple is the L’Oréal Paris Magic Retouch Root Touch Up. “I have a full head of grey hair and it literally comes in within 10 days of colouring it, so I’m in constant touch-up mode,” she says. Skincare is also key in her routine. “I need and love my L’Oréal Revitalift Clinical SPF50+ Invisible UV Fluid, it’s super transparent and absorbs like a moisturiser, and I can’t live without the Revitalift Hyaluronic Acid.”
While she keeps it fresh and low-key with her everyday look, a statement fragrance is a must-have, and she’s a big fan of close friend Victoria Beckham’s line. “I’m obsessed with her fragrances right now. I wear Portofino, I love that it has a clean smell.”
To say Longoria has been busy of late is an understatement. The actress recently joined the A-list cast of Only Murders in the Building and also stars in Apple TV’s Land Of Women. Off-screen, Longoria has written a cookbook, My Mexican Kitchen, and regularly champions philanthropic causes including The Global Gift Foundation, all while producing and directing. She also made an appearance on the catwalk for L’Oreal Paris during the most recent Paris Fashion Week. Juggling multiple roles requires strength from the inside out, so Longoria relies on fitness for both her physical and mental wellbeing.
“Working out is probably my mental-health hour of the day,” she says. “I love waking up, working out, getting my blood flowing, getting oxygen in my lungs. I do weight training mostly, and I love having baths with Epsom salts and bath bombs.”
In her downtime, you can find her at the chiropractor or getting massages. “I do them at least three times a week and it makes me feel two inches taller,” she says, laughing. As for her advice to her younger self? It’s just as practical as her beauty routine. “Fasten your seatbelt,” she says. “I wouldn’t want to tell my younger self too much about what was to come because I love every experience – good and bad – that I’ve had.”
