Missy Elliott, an American rapper, is the first woman ever to be put into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The Cleveland Museum said that she is one of 13 artists who will be added to the Hall of fame.
They praised the rapper for her impact on the industry and the way she paved the way for other female artists. They said that she opened “new paths for women in the music industry and society at large through her behind-the-scenes mastery and unapologetic ownership of her body, her sexual desires, and her Blackness in her music.”
For an artist to get into the Hall of Rock and Roll, they must have put out a record at least 25 years before they get in. This was the first time Missy Elliot could have won the award.
Along with Elliot, musicians like Kate Bush, Don Cornelius, Rage Against the Machine, George Michael, and more will also be inducted.
