Irene Vázquez is a Black Mexican American poet, translator, and journalist born and raised on the Gulf Coast and now residing in Manhattan. After graduating from Yale, their first poetry collection, Take Me to the Water, was released by Bloof Books in 2022. By day, Irene edits books about feisty 12-year olds at Levine Querido. When not in the world of books, Irene likes drinking coffee, watching the WNBA, and playing with their cat (a tortie named Gemini).

On Sunday, October 13th at 1pm, BKLYN ROCKS! will transform the pathways of Abolitionist Place into a vibrant runway produced, styled, and modeled by Fashion Camp 360, a program by NYPD’s Community Affairs and Youth Strategies Development, which mentors and empowers style-minded youth from ages 7-18 years. As part of the Brooklyn community spirit, Primark will donate all the clothing modeled by Fashion Camp 360 to the aspiring fashionistas walking the runway!
