The Henry County School Nutrition department was among 157 schools nationwide that was awarded The Fuel Up grant from The Dairy Alliance.
The Dairy Alliance is a nonprofit organization funded by dairy farm families in the Southeast. Dairy milk nutrition education in schools is an essential component of our mission. Through our grant programs, we can reach an incredible number of students, empowering them to start fueling their minds and bodies early with the nutritional benefits of dairy,” said Geri Berdak, Chief Executive Officer at The Dairy Alliance.
Henry County Schools Nutrition Director said that Henry County High School was awarded two mobile meal kits, valued at over $5,000, which will be used during second chance breakfast in the hallways.
“These will allow more students to have the opportunity to fuel their bodies at breakfast and have increased milk & dairy consumption,” she said.
All students in Henry County School System receive one free breakfast and lunch daily as part of the CEP with USDA.
