SF arts advocates fear Prop. D consequences

A proposition on the November ballot would slash the number of San Francisco commissions, which some say threatens the democratic process behind the support of The City’s fine arts.

Proposition D is the brainchild of TogetherSF Action, a political group funded largely by billionaire venture capitalist Michael Moritz. Needing a simple majority to pass, the measure would roughly halve the number of city commissions to 65, establishing a five-member task force to recommend within nine months which commissions should be dissolved, reauthorized or restructured within the new limit.
