It might seem crass to talk about money when a story is about art, but it’s hard to discuss The Getty without doing so.

It’s the world’s wealthiest art museum, located in Los Angeles, California, with the endowment from oil tycoon J. Paul Getty’s Trust currently sitting at around $US9 billion ($13 billion). It’s where you’ll find Vincent Van Gogh’s Irises along with Rembrandts, Turners and Monets, jewels of antiquity, medieval manuscripts, decorative arts, and what may be the world’s best photographic collection.
