The Emporia Arts Center will showcase the artistic talents of local veterans in its annual Veterans Exhibition this week. The exhibition opens with a reception Friday, Nov. 1 from 5-6 p.m. at the Trusler Gallery.

The juried exhibition, which runs through Nov. 16, features artwork from veterans and active service members across all military branches. ESB Financial is sponsoring cash prizes for first, second, and third place winners, which will be announced during the reception at 5:30 p.m.

“Each year the Emporia Arts Council showcases our local veterans who are also artists as part of Emporia’s Veterans Day celebration,” said Sarah Bulinski, gallery coordinator at the Emporia Arts Center, in a written release. “This exhibition is a powerful reminder of the enduring spirit of our veterans, capturing their resilience, creativity, and unique perspectives through the transformative power of art.”

Visitors can vote for the People’s Choice award starting at 10 a.m. on opening day until 5:15 p.m. during the reception.

The exhibition is free to the public and can be viewed during regular gallery hours: Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Trusler Gallery is located at 815 Commercial St.
