Chappell Roan’s album, released in September of last year, has been one of the biggest stories in music this year. The record, alongside Chappell’s April single “Good Luck, Babe!” has soared and helped catapult the singer to unprecedented heights.
Just this year, Chappell went from being an opening act on Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts tour…
So, yes, Chappell’s dominance in the industry is only just getting started, and it seems like new music might be imminent.
What’s most notable, though, was her caption for the post. Chappell wrote, “Album kinda popped off imo but it is time to welcome a hot new bombshell into the villa.”
As Love Island fans likely caught, she’s referencing the reality show’s signature phrase “a new bombshell has entered the villa” in what seriously sounds like a major hint that she’s continuing to work on a new record and (hopefully) getting ready to release it soon.
Chappell hasn’t shied away from discussing (and even playing) new music. As Rolling Stone noted in a September interview with the singer, an unreleased song called “The Subway” has been a mainstay of her recent festival performances.
Still, it’s unclear if she plans on releasing the track. “I just like performing it,” she told the outlet. “I have two others that I really want to perform, too, [but] I don’t know what’s next. When I don’t know, it just hasn’t hit me yet because usually I know. I always have an answer. I don’t think it’s ‘Subway.’”
Then, just last week, Chappell posted polaroids to Instagram of herself and her creative director Ramisha Sattar with text that spelled out the phrase, “She gets the job done.” Chappell captioned the post, in part, “This is a clue. Just let that sink in.” Here’s hoping it’s a clue…to new music!
Expectedly, Chappell’s “bombshell” post was filled with excited and supportive comments.
This included from Sattar who commented that Chappell is “The hottest of all bombshells,” while another person wrote, “What the f is going on???? WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE??? 🚨🚨🚨🚨.”
Perhaps the best comment award, though, goes to internet icon Matt Bernstein. “clearly been working late… you ARE a singer…” they wrote, referencing Sabrina Carpenter’s iconic “Espresso” lyrics. No truer words!
