California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) made time for a pickup basketball game with some children during his trip to China this week. But one of the kids found himself in the wrong spot as the governor was driving to the hoop.

In footage making the rounds on social media, Newsom tries to drive past one child who is closely guarding him. But after he gets past that young man, another stepped up. But Newsom had a full head of steam, and was unable to stall his momentum — leading to his absolutely mowing down the child.

The clip evoked memories of a famous moment in which former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson knocked down a little kid while playing rugby in a clip that went viral when it happened back in 2015.

“We have just played a game of street rugby with a bunch of kids and I accidentally flattened a 10-year-old, on TV unfortunately,” Johnson said afterwards.
