Kia America has unveiled two hot and cool custom electric vehicle (EV) concepts at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show 2024 in Las Vegas. Developed by the Irvine, California-based Kia Design Center America (KDCA), the EV9 ADVNTR Concept EV SUV and the PV5 WKNDR Concept EV Van are eye candy for lovers of rugged design and the lifestyle.

The EV9 ADVNTR Concept is a fully electric, 3-row SUV that enhances off-road capabilities and outdoor versatility. With a 3-inch lift compared to the standard EV9 model, the ADVNTR version is designed to tackle rougher terrains than the average SUV. Custom front and rear fascias and reinforced rocker panels provide added durability, while the rugged tire and wheel combination maximizes the vehicle’s off-road functionality. A custom roof rack enables the SUV to support roof-mounted setups, such as tents, perfect for extended outdoor excursions.

The PV5 WKNDR Concept EV Van is based on Kia’s Purpose Beyond Vehicle (PBV) line, vehicles we do not yet get in North America, aimed at recreational and small-business users seeking versatile functionality. Its adaptable modular interior can be easily configured for various needs, while its “Gear Head” storage system provides sheltered exterior storage space for gear when stationary. Self-sufficient power solutions include solar panels, hydro turbine wheels that generate energy off-grid, and an onboard compressor for inflating gear or adjusting tire pressure on the go.

In addition to these two concepts, Kia’s SEMA display includes a “Beyond Organization” feature that showcases active lifestyle products that simplify packing and unpacking for outdoor activities.

Kia has also revealed one-of-a-kind versions of three SUVs, each inspired by figures from Greek mythology. The Sportage “THETIS” is a water-themed model with a Rhino Rack for transporting aquatic equipment, ideal for off-road excursions near rivers. The Telluride “ZEUS” is equipped with a mountain motif and a lift kit, suited for challenging terrains. The Sorento “GAIA” embraces an earth-toned design with camping features like lightbars and an outdoor projector screen for remote entertainment.
