Andrew Garfield Plays an Astronomer in the ‘Voyagers’ Biopic of Carl Sagan

Andrew Garfield’s next big part has been cast. In Sebastian Lelio’s next movie, “Voyagers,” the actor who played Spider-Man will play scientist Carl Sagan.

The Chilean director Sebastian Lelio is known for movies like Gloria and A Fantastic Woman, which were made in other languages. Voyagers will be shown at FilmNation Entertainment. The movie’s director lives in Berlin. Ann Druyan, who made the movie Cosmos, is also a part of the project. So is Daisy Edgar-Jones. The movie will be shown at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

The movie is based on the NASA Voyager missions from 1977, which were sent with notes on a golden phonograph so that they could talk to aliens. The film also shows how Sagan and his coworker Ann Druyan fall in love in a way that no one expected.

The movie’s original script is based on interviews with Druyan and many other people who worked on the Golden Record project.

Lelio’s most recent work, “The Wonder,” which he co-wrote and directed, is on Netflix and stars Florence Pugh. The film was up for Outstanding British Film of the Year at the 2022 BAFTAS.

Daisy Edgar-Jones became well-known after her big role in the Emmy-nominated TV show Normal People, which was based on the best-selling book of the same name by Sally Rooney.
