This colourful 911 develops 550 horsepower.
With the arrival of the new 911 GTS T-Hybrid, Porsche has taken the step toward electrification with its flagship model. During our visit to the SEMA show in Las Vegas, we came across a 1986 911 Targa that combines hybrid and vintage. Creativity, ingenuity and good taste were all on the menu.
In the sea of distinctive cars on display at the SEMA Show recently, this 1986 Porsche 911 Targa Hybrid first caught our eye with its colourful looks. As you can see from the photos, it’s painted black and decorated with contrasting stripes of blue, pink, orange, yellow, and green—not far from a rainbow. Nostalgic fans will certainly remember the 911 Turbo produced in partnership with Polaroid in the late 1970s, which largely inspired this creation.
But it gets even more attention when you look at its powertrain. This 1986 Porsche 911 is powered by a 4.0-litre flat-six engine. What’s more, this completely re-imagined 911 incorporates hybrid technology. This includes a 110-kW electric generator motor positioned between the gasoline engine and the five-speed manual transmission. This engine develops a total output of 550 hp.

The car is fitted with Brembo brakes and 18-inch wheels styled after the famous Fuchs wheels. The interior is bright blue, and rainbow colours are also featured. The dashboard has been somewhat modernized. The 1986 Porsche 911 Targa Hybrid has an electric air-conditioning system.
