FORT WAYNE — A new exhibit called “A Creative Life: The Architecture and Art of Alan Grinsfelder” opens at 2 p.m. Nov. 24 at Congregation Achduth Vesholom. The afternoon also includes a talk and panel discussion at 3 p.m. and reception at 4 p.m.

The exhibit highlights Grinsfelder’s designs and architectural contributions to the Fort Wayne skyline during his long career with Grinsfelder Associates Architecture, along with the creativity displayed in his ongoing fine arts endeavors.

His building projects featured in this exhibition include Headwaters Park, the Foellinger Theatre, the Pyramid Building, the Hanna Creighton block (Urban League, Head Start, and Pontiac Public Library) and the downtown community center.

His artwork has been on display in local coffeehouses and galleries. Alan, who will turn 89 days before the exhibit’s opening, has been touted as Purdue Fort Wayne’s oldest student and continues to take art classes.

Grinsfelder and his wife, Maureen, are longtime members of the Temple and past presidents.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Irene Walters. Joining Grinsfelder on the panel will be Geoff Paddock, Fort Wayne city councilman and former executive director of Headwaters Park, and John O’Connell, dean of the College of Visual & Performing Arts at Purdue Fort Wayne.

The Dr. Harry W. Salon Foundation provided support for the exhibit.
