WINONA, Minn. (WXOW) – At the Minnesota Marine Art Museum, three unique art exhibits will be closing soon.

On January 5, three displays will be taken out of the museum’s galleries and replaced with new exhibits.

Each exhibit showcases an artist’s work that delves into different water themes and interpretations through multiple art mediums:

  • Kajahl: Ultra Mare
    • Santa Cruz, CA based artist Kajahl’s work is inspired by the ancient world. Through his oil paintings, he brings fictional characters to life in imagined scenes.
  • Judy Onofrio: Deep Dive
    • Rochester, Minnesota’s Judy Onofrio creates larger than life sculptures that are covered with collaged bones, glass orbs, thousands of beads, and intricate glass mosaics.
  • Across a Wide Ocean
    • Combining personal, familial, and historical stories across cultures and time, Across a Wide Ocean: Remarkable Stories about the Origins of Identity, reminds us of the many ways water shapes our very existence.

Communications Director Caitlin Crouchet suggests that the upcoming holiday season is the perfect time for folks to bring friends and family to the MMAM and check out these exhibits while they’re still available for viewing.
