The Washington Area Performing Arts and Events Center will host a holiday benefit at the end of the month.
“The Reason for the Season: A Few of Our Favorite Things” will be presented on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 1 p.m., as part of the Washington Performing Arts Series. Free for all children through grade 12, the show will feature several acts put on by nearly seventy talented young people from the area.
The third in an annual series, this year’s installment will include twelve dances performed by members of the competition team from Stairway to the Stars, six holiday dances learned exclusively for the show, and a vocal solo. Audiences will enjoy seasonal favorite songs such as “Frosty the Snowman,” “Sleigh Ride,” and “Snowflake Shuffle.”
Ugly Christmas sweaters, Santa, shopping, snow, and family will be celebrated throughout the afternoon as your kids and neighbors take the stage to revel in Washington’s Wonderland Holidays as a component of the community’s all-day event schedule. In the true spirit of the reason for the season, a portion of the ticket sales for this performance will be donated to HACAP (Hawkeye Area Community Action Program) to provide Christmas joy for local families in need. Tickets are $10 for adults, and five dollars for college students. Admission can be purchased ahead of time at washingtonauditorium.org.
