Governor Hochul announces $62M in State Arts grants


WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – Governor Kathy Hochul announced more than 2,000 grants totaling $62 million through the New York State Council on the Arts on Monday.

In the North Country, the Thousand Islands Arts Center will receive $40,000 in grant funding.

Additionally, the St. Lawrence County Arts Council, the St. Lawrence County Historical Association, and the Orchestra Association of Northern New York will receive $25,000 in funding.

The Norwood Village Green Concert Series will receive $20,000.

$10,000 will go to the Frederic Remington Art Museum, the Thousand Islands Performing Arts Fund, and the Village of Potsdam Public Museum.

Governor Hochul emphasized that 70% of the organization grants are going to non-profits with budgets under $1 million.
