TOMS RIVER, NJ — A former teacher at the Performing Arts Academy has pleaded guilty in connection with 2019 incidents where he had sexual contact with a student, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said Tuesday.
Douglas J. Bollinger, 57, of Neptune City, pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child before Superior Court Judge Dina M. Vicari, Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.
Bollinger was arrested Aug. 15 by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force on two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, accused of having sexual contact with a female student in Point Pleasant Beach and in Asbury Park between February 2019 and August 2019, while Bollinger was a teacher at the Performing Arts Academy.

He was no longer employed by the Ocean County Vocational Technical Schools before he was arrested, the prosecutor’s office said at the time.
Bollinger was taken to the Ocean County Jail and subsequently released as a consequence of New Jersey Bail Reform.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 10, at which time he is anticipated to be sentenced to parole supervision for life. He also will be subject to the terms of Megan’s Law, and will be permanently prohibited from contact with his victim.
Bollinger will also be required to permanently forfeit any future public employment and teaching certifications in the state of New Jersey, the prosecutor’s office said.
