Ringgold High School wins state one-act play championship again

For the second time in three years, Ringgold High School Performing Arts has claimed the state championship in the Georgia High School Association’s 2A State One-Act Play competition.

Their production of “Hadestown – Teen Edition” earned the top prize on Saturday, November 16, at the Mabry Arts Center at Carrollton High School.

Ringgold Performing Arts, which was the runner-up last year, previously won the title in 2022 with their production of “Mary Poppins.”

Senior Luke Garverick was awarded “Best Actor” for his portrayal of Orpheus, while cast members Ivy O’Neal, Taylor Rice, Jadyn Hatch, and Cherish Headrick received “All Star Cast” honors.

“The entire cast and crew worked so hard on this production, and we’re so happy to have won the GHSA 2A Championship,” said Jané Cirlot Ellis, Theater Director at Ringgold High School. “This year, we’re doing something different, as we’ll be performing the full ‘Hadestown’ show beginning on Thursday, December 5, at Ringgold High School. Folks coming to the show, which runs through Saturday, December 14, will be in for a special treat, as this cast is truly remarkable!”
