According to Page Six, the performing artist and her legal team were successful in having 18 of her employees sign declarations that reject the allegations of sexual harassment made by three of her former dancers in a civil complaint.
According to court documents that were obtained by us exclusively from the Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday, dancers, choreographers, and musicians who have worked with Lizzo’s touring company claim that they have never experienced or witnessed any form of harassment during their time with the pop star, including racism, body-shaming, or any other form of harassment.
Arianna Davis asserted in the initial complaint that the Juice singer had disparaged her due to her recent weight increase, despite the fact that the singer had previously disclosed to management that she struggles with compulsive eating, depression, and anxiety.
The assertion made by dancer Melissa Locke, on the other hand, strongly supports Lizzo’s position.
“Having worked with Lizzo for years, it is my personal belief that Lizzo would never body shame anyone, including Davis, or comment on her weight in a negative and hurtful manner,” asserts Locke.
Jayla Sullivan, a dancer and contestant on “Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls,” adds in her statement that she “never observed” Lizzo denigrating Davis or co-plaintiff Crystal Williams. Sullivan was a participant on “Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls.”
“Lizzo has inspired each and every one of us to celebrate ourselves and love our bodies exactly as they are,” she stated.
Asia Banks, who identifies herself as the “biggest dancer on tour” in the file, said in her statement that “Lizzo assembled an entire group of plus-size dancers to showcase our talent and celebrate us.”
The newly discovered evidence contradicts the memories of the plaintiffs on a team trip to Amsterdam’s Bananenbar, an adult entertainment club where the former dancers claimed they were coerced into inappropriate sexual conduct.
According to the initial complaint, Lizzo is accused of pressuring the dancers to take turns “touching nude performers, [catch] d*ldos launched from the performers’ vag*nas and [eat] bananas protruding from the performers’ vag*nas.”
But the drummer for the tour, Michel’le Baptiste, disputes every claim made in her testimony and adds that she did not observe Davis “looking uncomfortable.”
The artist continues, “She was having a great time, just like we all were,” he says about the audience member.
Several employees at Lizzo have also refuted the notion that they were “pressured” into attending the scandalous parties.
