LEWISBURG — Local artists encourage visitors looking for the perfect gift to stop by the Artists & Artisans — A Cooperative Gallery in Lewisburg.

The Holiday Show will run through December at the gallery, located at 229 Market St. The exhibit features holiday or winter-themed work from the 14 experienced and award-winning artists involved in the cooperative.

“We have something for everyone for holiday gift-giving,” Sandy Davis said. “You can stop in and meet the artists. There’s always an artist here to greet you and answer questions.”

Erin Yust-Brown said the gallery allows people to spend their money locally.

“You get to shop from someone you know it will benefit,” Yust-Brown said. “The money goes directly to them. The money stays in the community. When you shop small, it lets people continue to do what they love to do.”

Artists & Artisans opened in April 2023. The gallery is a result of a collaboration between 14 artists whose vision is to offer their creations in downtown Lewisburg and engage with the public. The work includes ceramics, jewelry, paintings, photographs, fine art prints, fiber arts, metal sculptures, mixed media collages and wood turnings.

Davis said prices start at $5. There are stocking stuffers, handcrafted greeting cards, ornaments and “all kinds of goodies.”

Davis is a fine art printmaker, specializing in original hand-pulled prints and monotypes on handmade papers. An award-winning artist and teacher, Davis’ prints have been featured in solo, group and juried exhibitions. She prints in her home studio in Lewisburg on a fine art press, using aqueous media and Plexiglas plates to print on paper, handmade around the globe by indigenous peoples, including Mexico and Asia.

One of her pieces called “Eagles Mere Evergreens II” is an aqueous media monotype and Chine-collé. She created it during an art workshop weekend in Eagles Mere.

Yust-Brown is best known for her pottery, which was modeled after the tri-globe lampposts in Lewisburg. She began using the iconic image in her narrative artwork after being away for a long weekend. As she came across the bridge into town, she thought to herself, “We’re home,” which was a significant moment for her being a Colorado native.

“It’s less about the lamppost and more about the community,” Yust-Brown said. “It’s a symbol that evokes people’s emotions. The lamppost speaks to the community.”

In addition to Davis and Yust-Brown, the artists and artisans are E. Richard Bonham, medallic sculptor; Toby Bouder, woodturner; Linda Doucette, fiber artist; Paul Grecian, photographer; Selinda Kennedy, redware potter; Gary Leitzel, potter; Marilyn Paul, printmaker; Simonne Roy, painter; Deb Stabley, mixed media artist and ceramicist; Paula Swett, mixed media artist; Ana Truqui, painter; and April Wengren, jeweler.

Starting Friday, the gallery is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Fridays and 12 to 4 p.m. Sundays. During Late Night Shopper events, the gallery will be open until 10 p.m.
