The new Performing Arts Center offers advanced spaces and resources designed specifically to meet present educational requirements, replacing an outdated auditorium.
Since its inception in 1958, Crawford High School has maintained a significant presence in the Colina Del Sol community. Successfully serving four generations of students over 65 years, its continued expansion, including this new Performing Arts Center installed as part of the Whole Site Modernization Phase III project, marks another significant milestone. The school named after San Diego Unified Superintendent Dr. Will C. Crawford supports the area’s ethos by upholding its educational standards.
Following the completion of the Performing Arts Center’s construction in December 2022, a ribbon-cutting ceremony took place in April. The three-story facility comprises of a performing arts space, 20 classrooms, and administrator offices for student services. A new pick and drop area on Orange Avenue, Colts Way, and a parking lot, mentioned in the San Diego Unified announcement, have amplified this project’s success, completed in fall 2023.
The Educational Interiors Showcase has annually commended exceptional learning environments across different landscapes, impacting facility planners, university administrators, and architects over the past 33 years. The distinguished list includes candidates after a rigorous evaluation by American Institute of Architects Committee on Architecture for Education jurists, considering the design, functionality, and overall community and student influence.
Crawford High School’s recognition aligns with the broader paradigm shift in education facilities. As technology advances, the learning environments ought to keep pace. Updated facilities have gradually turned into the bedrock for fostering well-rounded students who will thrive in future societal conditions.
