Marriott Signs on Two Outdoor Lifestyle Brands

Marriott International has acquired Postcard Cabins and signed a long-term deal with Trailborn, marking a significant expansion into the outdoor lifestyle segment.

With the two brands entering the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio in 2025, Marriott plans to create an outdoor-focused collection that will offer tiny homes and cabins near national parks, deserts, ski areas, and shorelines.

“As guests are increasingly interested in nature-immersive travel, we are excited to build on the incredible breadth of our portfolio,” said Leeny Oberg, chief financial officer and executive vice president, of development at Marriott.

“Whether you’re looking for bespoke lodging near natural wonders, an elevated camping experience, or off the beaten path excursions in nature, our planned outdoor-focused collection is expected to offer a broad array of options for seasoned adventurers and first-time explorers,” he added.

Postcard, formerly known as Getaway Outposts, has 29 properties with over 1,200 cabins combined. Each location is within a two-hour drive of a major metropolitan area. The lodging sites are dog-friendly, have ample space between cabins, and have modern design with private bathrooms and full kitchens.

Trailborn has a smaller footprint, with 559 rooms in five locations, but also has several projects in development. Trailborn’s properties are near Rocky Mountain National Park, Grand Canyon, and in Highlands, NC, with more to come in Wrightsville Beach, NC, and Mendocino, CA. The brand offers experience-driven programming, curated food and beverage, and on-site teams assisting guests in their explorations.
