Krista Voto
Krista Voto is an interdisciplinary artist based in Atlanta. Originally from New Jersey, she graduated from Ramapo College of New Jersey with a BA in Visual art and an Art Education degree. She then received her MFA in Sculpture from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Voto is a professor of Art in Foundations at Kennesaw State University.
Her works consist of materials ranging from metals to textiles in combination with sewing and weaving techniques. Often, her forms mimic that of a chrysalis/nest formations and the femininity found in tree forms. Her subject matter addresses feminism, societal pressures, and the human experience. The soft sculptures in this show focus on root and vine formations, drawing parallels between naturally occurring structures and the fibers that connect humanity.
Anna Noel
Born in Chesapeake Bay, Virginia, in the late ’90s and swiftly uprooted to be raised in the Show-Me State of Missouri, Anna Noel offers a unique perspective in contemporary art. Heavily influenced by bold colors, surrealist works, and contemporary culture, Anna spends her studio time exploring themes that blend the personal and the universal.
Her work is an ongoing process of self-liberation, freeing herself from her own incessant ideas. Her concepts are brought to life through narrative objects that resonate on a universal level of shared personal experiences. Although her primary focus is three-dimensional work, she employs whatever medium serves the concept best, finding success in dynamic digital creations, found objects, oil paint, and hand-felted fiber, allowing each piece to emerge through the most fitting medium.
