  • New expert-led coaching app will help patients build healthy habits for long-term sustainable weight loss and management.
  • Easy-to-use app offers dedicated one-to-one coaching support and guidance from specialists as well as ability to monitor progress.
  • Programme delivered in partnership with digital therapeutics company Liva Healthcare.

December 2024: Boots Online Doctor has launched a new, personalised coaching app to help patients build long-term healthy habits for sustainable weight loss through tailored advice and coaching.

The new Boots Online Doctor Coach App*, developed in partnership with Liva Healthcare, offers bespoke guidance from qualified coaches, nutritionists and dietitians who specialise in weight management and behavioural psychology to help develop and maintain long lasting-lifestyle changes.

Registered patients are assigned a dedicated coach who could be a nutritionist, dietician or fitness specialist to deliver one-to-one advice on nutrition and fitness to set personalised weight loss goals and monitor progress.

The service is easy to access in three simple steps:

  • Complete a questionnaire – Patients share their health history and select a plan that suits them. This takes 5-10 minutes.
  • Download the app – Boots Online Doctor aims to review everything within 24 hours and be in touch to help   patients get started in the Coach app.
  • Meet with coach – Via regular video calls during which they will receive tailored 1-to-1 advice, plus progress tracking and community support.

Liva specialises in delivering digital programmes, led by dedicated healthcare professionals that have been approved by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and other life science partners. Many have already been offered to thousands of patients across different healthcare systems, including the NHS.

Patients can either combine use of Boots Online Doctor Coach App with their prescribed weight loss medication or opt for coaching alone to support their healthy weight loss journey.

Christina Hennesey, Chief Medical Officer at Boots Online Doctor said: “At Boots Online Doctor we are committed to providing a high-quality, safe service for people who are worried their weight is impacting their health. We believe in a holistic approach to weight loss that also focuses on long-term lifestyle adjustments to support people on their individual journeys. The coaching programme is designed to fuse together expertise, community, tailored support and advice to successfully support our patients to reach their goals via healthy and sustainable weight loss.”

Shahram Sharif, Chief Executive Officer at Liva Healthcare said: “Liva Healthcare has published the results of several clinical studies in a ground-breaking new report showing how digital therapeutics can play a pivotal role in transforming people’s health. By leveraging behavioural science and interactive digital platforms, these tools can support individuals in adopting healthier lifestyles and so reducing risk factors for chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, and other cardiovascular conditions. We’re thrilled we have the opportunity with Boots to scale our programmes.”

The Boots Online Doctor Coach App costs £32 a month alongside treatment**, or £46 a month for coaching only. Boots Online Doctor also launched its Weight Loss 360 podcast earlier this year as an additional resource to support customers on their weight loss journey, and continues to offer a free 10-week weight loss programme, free Weight Loss Webinars and exclusive Weight Watchers offers to its patients.
