WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Hartford High senior Macy Bettwieser has made it to the final three in the Broadway World’s Next On Stage singing competition.
On Friday, the four judges of the competition announced that Bettwieser is invited to travel to New York City to perform at 54 Below, a cabaret venue underneath Studio 54, on Jan. 19 in the competition’s grand finale.
The competition, sponsored by Musical Theater International — a theatrical licensing agency — and 54 Below, is covering the transportation and lodging costs, and providing the finalists with two tickets to a Broadway show during their stay, as well as two tickets to a future show at 54 Below.
Bettwieser is competing against two other high schoolers for the grand prize; a full ride to the American Musical and Dramatic Academy College of the Performing Arts, which has campuses in New York City and Hollywood, a training session from each a prominent vocal coach and a casting director; a Standard Rental Certificate for up to $1,000 for the winner’s school to produce an upcoming Musical Theater International show, $1,000 to a charity of their choice and merchandise.
Up until this point, Bettwieser has moved on based on votes from the public. Now the final winner will be decided by a panel of judges.
The finale will be livestreamed at broadwayworld.com/nextonstage.
