According to Statista, losing weight, exercising more, and eating healthier are all among the top five New Year’s resolutions for 2025.
Fortunately, if you live in this city in Pennsylvania, keeping these types of resolutions will be a bit easier for you.
A study conducted and published by WalletHub deemed Philadelphia the ninth overall best city to maintain an active lifestyle, giving it a seat in the top 10. The only other city in Pennsylvania mentioned on the list — Pittsburgh — ranked 21st overall.
Researchers graded 100 of the country’s most populous cities across two main dimensions, “Budget & Participation” and “Sports & Outdoors,” as well as accompanying metrics such as “Average Monthly Fitness-Club Fee” and “Walk Score.” Rankings were determined by final grades.
The top three best cities to maintain an active lifestyle were San Francisco, Calif., in third; New York, N.Y., in second; and Honolulu, Hawaii, in first.
“The top cities for staying active offer opportunities for all types of people, from those who prefer team sports to people who simply want to get their daily exercise by walking or biking to work,” said WalletHub analyst, Chip Lupo. “They also tend to be large cities that still have a close proximity to beautiful natural areas for hiking and swimming.
“Finally, the top cities for an active lifestyle have populations that are highly interested in exercise, which helps people find workout partners and stay motivated.”
The city at the very bottom of the list was North Las Vegas, Nev.
