Going glam

The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge will present its Best of Hollywood MPAC event from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday at the council office, 233 St. Ferdinand St. The fundraiser celebrating local artists includes food, live performances and other entertainment. $100. www.artsbr.org/mpac.

That’s My Word

Hosted by local playwright and actor Jason Broux, it’s a night of poetry and monologues to celebrate the African American tradition through performance art. The event takes place from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at 225 Theatre Collective, 7338 Highland Road. $10. www.225theatrecollective.com
