  • Friday, November 10, 3:30 p.m., Weekes Branch Library

Join us for a free hands-on art lesson for families with kids age 6-12! Ruey Lin Syrop and Glen Myers will teach about the artist Paul Klee and take you through all the steps of a fun project.

All kids must be accompanied by a caregiver; all materials and supplies will be provided.

About Paul Klee:

A Swiss-born painter and printmaker, Klee was originally associated with the German Expressionist group Der Blaue Reiter, and subsequently taught at the Bauhaus. His diverse body of work cannot be categorized according to any single artistic movement, or “school.” His paintings, which are at times fantastic, childlike, or otherwise witty, served as an inspiration to many other artists of the 20th century.

About the instructors:

Ruey Lin Syrop has a BA degree in Fine Art from the National Taiwan Normal University, an AS degree in Electronic Engineering at Chabot Community College and a post-baccalaureate certificate in visual art from UC Berkeley Extension. Making art is her way of expressing her ideas and connecting with others.

Glen Myers is a retired museum curator and currently exploring his own art work through drawing and painting. He is on the Board of Directors at Hayward Arts Council, and works with Ruey Syrop to create art exhibits for the public at Hayward City Hall. He likes to encourage everyone–especially children and families–to learn and enjoy making their own art.
