Recalls Issued For Nutrition Bars, Taquitos, CT Health Department Says

CONNECTICUT — Taquitos that may contain metal and nutrition bars that have led to allergic reactions are among products being recalled, according to The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection.

Bestway Sandwiches Inc. is recalling 24,870 pounds of frozen chicken and cheese taquitos that may be contaminated with metal. Consumers are warned not to eat Casa Mamita Chicken & Cheese Taquitos with best by dates of July 3, 2025, and Sept. 25, 2025.

The 20 oz.-packages were sold at Aldi stores in 31 states, including Connecticut. More information on the recall is available by clicking here.

The problem came to light when a consumer notified the company after finding a metal piece in the product. Another consumer reported a dental injury from the product to the USDA’s Food and Inspection Service, according to CBS News.

The other recall is from Lifestyle Evolution Inc. for NuGo Dark Chocolate Chip and Dark Chocolate Pretzel nutrition bars due to undeclared milk.

Consumers with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk are warned not to eat NuGo Dark Chocolate Chip bars with best by dates of Dec. 21, 2025 and Dec. 23, 2025 and NuGo Dark Pretzel bars with best by dates of Dec. 14, 2025 and Dec. 16, 2025.

The 12- or 18-count boxes are sold at Costco and Amazon. More information about that recall is available by clicking here.

The FDA received multiple reports of serious allergic reactions to the bars, which prompted the recall, Newsweek reported. The company then conducted testing and found that milk was an unlisted ingredient.

Those who purchased recalled food items should throw them out or return them to where they were purchased.
