  • AJAC’s 12 Best in Canada honours awarded

  • Overall winners next month in Toronto

The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) has just announced the 12 Best Vehicles in Canada for 2025 at the Montreal Auto Show. It’s the penultimate stage of AJAC’s Canadian Car of the Year program, with three finalists in each of four categories for gas and electric vehicles awarded the honours.

In the Canadian Car of the Year category, the three best named were the Acura Integra Type S, Honda Civic, and Toyota Camry. While the Integra carried over from last year, the Civic added a new hybrid system this year, and Toyota comprehensively refreshed the Camry sedan.

Canadian Electric Car of the Year finalists included the BMW i4, Fiat 500e, and the Lucid Air. The i4 is a former Canadian Car of the Year winner, and the Fiat 500e is all-new for 2025. The Lucid Air recently added a new Pure trim that offered an appealing starting price for the long-range luxury sedan.

In the Utility Vehicle categories, which include trucks, vans, and SUVs, the Hyundai Santa Fe, Mazda CX-70, and Toyota Land Cruiser took the final three spots for Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year. All three are brand-new this year.

Canadian Electric Utility Vehicle of the Year finalists include the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, Kia EV9, and Mazda CX-70 PHEV. All three are brand-new models this year.

48 of Canada’s top automotive journalists cast thousands of ballots and drove dozens of vehicles to narrow the field first to 23 semi-finalists and then the 12 Best Vehicles in Canada for 2025. All 12 will be on display at the Montreal Auto Show.

The 2025 Canadian Car of the Year Awards, which include Canadian Electric Car, Canadian Utility Vehicle, and Canadian Electric Utility Vehicle of the Year will be awarded at the Toronto International Auto Show on February 13th.
