Ryan Cabrera to perform at Turning Stone kickoff event for ‘new era’ of live music

Ryan Cabrera is helping the Turning Stone Resort Casino kick off a “new era” of live music and entertainment in Central New York.

The pop-rock singer-songwriter, best known for 2000s hits like “True” and “On the Way Down,” will headline 33 Amplified, a night of performances at multiple clubs in the Turning Stone’s Exit 33 entertainment complex in Verona. The event takes place Saturday, Jan. 25, at 8 p.m. in The Gig, Tin Rooster, Turquoise Tiger and the Atrium, all located on the casino grounds.

Other performers that night will include southern rock singer Canaan Bryce in the Tin Rooster; Jexxa, a multi-genre party band from Philadelphia led by singer Jexxa Ingraham, at The Gig; and The Femmes, an all-woman and non-binary band known for covering songs by female and non-binary artists, at the Turquoise Tiger. Cabrera will perform in the Atrium.

Tickets are $10 via Ticketmaster for access to all performances. Guests must be 21 or older to attend.

33 Amplified is being touted as the beginning of a new era of entertainment under Joe Bravo, who joined the Turning Stone as its director of nightlife and beverage last year. Bravo is a Las Vegas native that previously worked at The Hard Rock, M Resort and the MGM Grand’s Studio 54 club, all in Vegas, as well as venues in San Diego and Nashville.

Bravo told syracuse.com | The Post-Standard that one of his goals is to bring artists to Central New York that don’t normally come to the region, including emerging and nationally established acts. He said more than 70 performers from 25 cities across the country have already been lined up for shows at Exit 33 clubs, including rock, country, pop, dance, R&B, soul and more.

New themed nights and weekend festivals are also on the calendar, including Line Dancing Thursdays at Tin Rooster, Rock Band Karaoke, and special tribute nights.

Bravo said he feels at home at the Turning Stone, because it combines some of his favorite experiences from Las Vegas and Nashville. He said fans can bounce from room to room to enjoy the variety of entertainment in intimate settings.

“I wouldn’t encourage it, but you’ll be close enough to reach out and touch (the performers),” Bravo said.

Joel Barkin, the Oneida Indian Nation’s vice president for srategic communications and community engagement, said the Turning Stone is expected to add more entertainment and other experiences with the $370 million expansion project that is currently underway. The plan is to make Turning Stone the largest resort convention destination in the state, with a new hotel, fine-dining restaurant, and The Grand Expo, a 165,000-square-foot conference facility. The projects are expected to be completed by 2027.

The Turning Stone is also home to the Event Center and Showroom, which have upcoming performances by “Dancing with the Stars Live” (Feb. 2), “Magic Rocks!” with Leon Etienne (Feb. 7-8), comedian Tom Segura (May 24) and classic rock band Chicago (Aug. 9).
