Annual VintageNOW fashion show to end after nearly 16 years, organizers say

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) – An annual fashion show to raise money for a southeast Missouri domestic violence shelter is ending.

Deb Maevers, founder and executive director of VintageNOW Productions, announced the end of the annual show after nearly 16 years.

According to a news release, it was originally intended as a one-time event and grew into a major production that raised more than $1 million for Safe House of Southeast Missouri.

While the large-scale shows are ending, they say VintageNOW Productions will continue to support the Safe House through smaller events and projects.

According to the news release, “Deb [Maevers] expresses deep gratitude to the volunteers, sponsors and supporters, emphasizing that this is transition, not a farewell, with exciting plans ahead.”

“Without the VintageNOW Fashion Show, much of the growth and expansion of services that the Safe House has experienced in the past fifteen years would not have been possible,” Jessica Hill, Safe House executive director, added. “We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Deb Maevers, the Maevers family, the amazing volunteers, and our generous community who made the fashion show the premier fundraising event in Southeast Missouri.”

Safe House of Southeast Missouri plans to host the first-ever Safe House House Party on Saturday, October 11 at Buckner-Ragsdale Event Center. More details will be announced soon.
