Dimapur, January 19 (MExN): MGM College in Dimapur hosted an awareness session on environmental conservation and sustainability, drawing students, faculty, and Eco Club members to its auditorium. The event focused on pressing environmental issues and inspired attendees to take actionable steps toward a sustainable future.
Joachim Jack, Programme Coordinator of Action for Protection of Environment in Northeast Indian Region (APENIR) under ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA), Don Bosco Campus, Dimapur, was the keynote speaker. In his address, he encouraged students to adopt environmental responsibility as a core value, emphasizing the significance of individual efforts in protecting the planet.
“Every small effort counts towards protecting our Mother Earth,” he said, sharing insights on sustainable practices, community involvement, and innovative solutions to tackle challenges such as waste management, deforestation, and climate change.
The session also spotlighted the critical role of youth in environmental advocacy. Jack encouraged Eco Club members to spearhead initiatives like tree-planting campaigns, clean-up drives, and awareness programs within their communities.
Participants described the event as transformative. “It was not just an awareness session—it was a call to action. We now feel equipped and motivated to contribute to a greener tomorrow,” shared one Eco Club member.
The session concluded with attendees taking a collective pledge to adopt sustainable practices.
