Fayetteville city council to vote on 10-year art and culture plan


The city of Fayetteville proposed a 10-year plan to enhance the quality of life for residents and artists, which could include more access to art. The city heard from more than 1,250 people from surveys, interviews, and community meetings. Mike Wiederkehr, the Fayetteville city council member representing Ward 2, described the plan as a compass to guide the city through the next decade. Wiederkehr wants the city to remain a fun and vibrant place with art experiences and a variety of food.”We have our regular engine, but to be able to bring outside individuals to more than just a Razorback sporting event is a real plus for any community,” Wiederkehr said about the potential economic impact of the plan. The director of art and culture for the city of Fayetteville said they’re focused on public art programming, artist classes and spaces, and workshops. “…as well as leading in the field and coming up with what is industry best practices.” The eight members of the Fayetteville City Council will vote on whether to approve the plan on Tuesday evening at city hall at 5:30 p.m.
