Jersey City has launched the fourth round of Arts and Culture Trust Fund grants, providing much-needed financial support for local artists, arts education initiatives and cultural programming, Mayor Steve Fulop and the office of cultural affairs announced.
The Trust Fund collected $1.1 million in 2024, representing a 3% increase. Applications are now being accepted through Feb. 18. (For more information, workshop schedules, and application details, click here).
The Arts and Culture Trust Fund is a groundbreaking initiative that continues to strengthen and expand Jersey City’s dynamic arts and cultural landscape. Eligible applicants are invited to apply under one of the following grant categories:
- Program Grants: Supporting arts and cultural programming that enhances the community.
- Arts Education Grants: Fostering learning opportunities in the arts for Jersey City residents of all ages.
- General Operating Grants: Providing operational funding for arts and cultural organizations.
- Individual Artist Fellowship Grants: For individual artists as chosen by the Jersey City Arts Council.
Fulop established the state’s first Arts and Culture Trust Fund with voters’ approval.
“In just two years, we’ve been able to distribute nearly 300 grants totaling $3 million to provide considerable support to our dynamic arts community, which plays a key role in enhancing equity, vitality, and diversity across our city,” he said.
Christine Goodman, director of the office of cultural affairs, said the impact of the grants is great.
“These grants have proven to provide a much-needed boost to empower our talented artists and organizations, ensuring Jersey City remains a thriving hub for arts and culture,” she said.
To assist applicants with the submission process, the Arts and Culture Trust Fund Committee will host a record number of information sessions across the city.
These public workshops, offered both virtually and in person, will provide guidance on eligibility, application requirements, and best practices. Pre-recorded instructional videos are also available on the Cultural Affairs website to help applicants navigate the process.
